In the swing of things

So, here we are in the full swing holiday mode.

The advent calendar has been going great. We have been making our own Christmas wrapping paper with paint and stamps; crafting with friends and making our own Christmas ornaments.

I have found the simplest recipe of all for cinnamon ornaments. You take half a cup of cinnamon and dump it into a mixing bowl. Next step is to take half a cup of applesauce and dump it too in the same mixing bowl - mix and roll or pat out the dough and you are set! It is that simple. We used cookie cutters to make our ornaments and took the end of a straw to make the hole to hang with ribbon or bakers twine. Really very sweet and your house will smell lovely all day. I used wax paper to cut our ornaments on because they do take a full day or two to dry.

We have been playing Santa's elves over here and having the best time. The boys and I have been making these darling little gift boxes and filling them with sweet treats. Every evening we deliver two or three to our friends and neighbors along with our Christmas card. Reef even remembers to say, Merry Christmas! with each delivery. It is a nice way to be able to spend a few minutes with our neighbors during this very busy holiday season.

To top it all off we had chocolate chip cookies and milk for lunch. Shhhh...don't tell Dad. Sometimes you just need to live a little.

We had gingerbread and cookies for breakfast yesterday. Isn't that what the holidays are all about? Regardless, your secret's safe with me.
